The ceremony in Mount Gambier signalled 21 analogue transmitters across regional South Australia and in Broken Hill falling silent, 45 years after the arrival of television in the southeast of South Australia. Regional South Australia is the second area in Australia to completely abandon analogue television, with Western Victoria to follow. By November 2011, Southeast households are expected to have access to a total of 16 channels, although many already receive extra television services from Victoria.
