Owner, Ákos Bankó, wanted to replace his old PA system with a loudspeaker brand that would sound clear whether being used by a live band or the BGM system. QSC’s K-Series – claiming to represent ‘a paradigm shift in compact, lightweight, high-performance loudspeakers’, was chosen on recommendation from a colleague of QSC’s Hungarian distributors, Interton.
The resellers arranged a live demo of the moulded enclosures to show how matched components (including a 1kW class-D amplifier present in all models) would optimise the system. As a result, some of Hungary’s most famous musicians will now perform through a pair each of K12 12-inch two-way speakers and two 12-inch KSubs as the main PA, reinforced with four K10 (10-inch) floor monitors and a pair of K8 (8-inch) speakers providing additional fills.
Also mounted around the room on a distributed system are 16 AcousticDesign AD-S52Ts, which take over from the K-Series after 10pm due to volume limitations. These are driven by a pair of QSC’s ISA300Ti 100V line amplifiers. The AD series were again successfully demoed before being adopted, with all equipment supplied by Interton customer Tajti Music.
Situated in the trendy downtown area of the Hungarian capital, Pub Silenus boasts international cuisine and an uncomparable selection of home made beers downstairs, while up on the first floor a full evening entertainment package, ranging from soft ambient music to karaoke, disco and live music takes place nightly.
