Windows-based audio applications that support EuCon – including Pro Tools, Steinberg Cubase, Cakewalk Soanr, Merging Pyramix and Magix Sequoia – will now integrate more tightly with its controller. This promises highly responsive control over software functions and a tightly connected experience, in which the control surface acts and feels like a physical extension of their software.
Developed by Euphonix, EuCon is an open, high-speed Ethernet control protocol that allows Avid Artist and Pro Series controllers and consoles to connect to third-party creative audio and video software solutions. This makes it possible for users to easily switch between multiple applications and workstations, resulting in a more efficient and cost-effective content creation process.
‘It's great to see Avid delivering on its promise to evolve the (formerly) Euphonix product line,’ says Andreas Stelling, MD of Steinberg Media Technologies. ‘It benefits the entire industry. Steinberg customers running Cubase and Nuendo on their PCs will absolutely welcome the option to work with Avid’s Artist Series and the workflow flexibility the EuCon protocol provides.’
‘This announcement has been long-awaited by many Pyramix users as it offers incredible value for the money,’ adds Claude Cellier, CEO of Merging Technologies. ‘For many years, Merging has been an active promoter and supporter of industry-wide open protocols, including EuCon, and welcomes Avid's decision to support EuCon and further its development and reach.’
