API has added the TranZformer LLX Bass Pedal to its API Select range of products, under which the company markets units that ‘don't necessarily conform to API’s classic component structure or topography’.
After the successful introduction of the TranZformer GTR guitar tone and the CMP compressor stompboxes in 2021, end-users began to request for an EQ/tone pedal specifically made for bass guitar.
‘The original TranZformer LX pedal was incredibly popular, and was a favourite with bass players like Victor Wooten and Les Claypool,’ says API Sales Account Manager, Mark Seman. ‘When we first introduced the GTR and CMP we had calls and emails from all over the world asking when we would release a bass version. You asked, we delivered – the LLX Bass Pedal is here and we are thrilled to add it to our line-up of high-quality compact effects pedals.’
Designed to be pedalboard friendly and engineered to run on standard 9V or 18V power supplies, the API Select TranZformer LLX offers ±15dB of gain on three frequencies optimiaed for bass guitar. Additionally, the gain stage can be switched from Clean Boost to Overdrive to drive the proprietary API 2510 input op-amp for further tones. Other features include a buffered bypass, -20dB output pad, selectable peak/shelf for upper frequency range and transformer output.
