Antelope Audio has announced the Orion 32+ Gen 3 interface and AD/DA converter with 64-bit AFC (Acoustically Focused Clocking) technology and jitter management algorithm supporting circuit-level equipment emulations. Running in real-time on an integrated FPGA FX platform, this third-generation of the interface.
Offering low-latency recording and playback of up to 64 simultaneous 192kHz, 24-bit audio channels via Thunderbolt and up to 32 audio channels over USB, the Orion 32+ Gen 3 connects with any DAW on a Mac or PC, offering a routing matrix with four separate mixers, effects chaining, and zero-latency monitoring capabilities all residing within an application for macOS and Windows. All selections are viewable in the centre of the routing matrix when hovering over a connection.
Orion 32+ Gen 3 comes complete with a suite of effects, each running in real time, Antelope Audio claims ‘mastering-grade precision and clarity’ to its Clear Q linear EQ and AuraVerb. Also included is Master De-Esser; the PowerEX expander; the PowerFFC feed-forward compressor; and the PowerGate noise gate.
As Antelope Audio is also a audio clocking specialist, a pair of Word Clock outputs turn the Orion32+ Gen 3 into a master clock for any studio set-up, while a 10MHz input allows it to be used with supreme stability using the company’s 10MX Rubidium Atomic Clock.
New AD/DA converters achieve up to 129dB dynamic range (at the monitor output stage) and sub-millisecond round-trip latency for both AD and DA conversion. Round-trip latency times between line inputs and outputs are measured as low as 0.904ms (64 samples at 192kHz) and line inputs and monitoring outputs as low as 1.155ms (64 samples at 192kHz). offers DB25 connectors for analogue I/O alongside two Adat ports, a Madi port and S/PDIF digital connections.
Orion32+ Gen 3 is available now, priced at US$2,595.00 RRP.
