Australian manufacturer ARX has announced the release of the i-DI Portable Media Active Direct Box.
‘Tablets and smartphones have rapidly become the audio source of convenience for corporate A/V presentations, seminars, system demos and testing, musicians, DJs and many other audio system users,’ says ARX Managing, Director Colin Park. ‘Designed by the ARX Engineering team to fill the market niche for a professional transformer isolated DI interface, the i-DI connects all of today’s – and tomorrow’s – tablets and smartphone devices to the Pro Audio world via an attached heavy duty input cable, ultra low noise and distortion circuitry and Balanced XLR outputs.’
i-DI features include phantom powering (no batteries to go flat during use, mini-jack plug flying input cable (500mm) with genuine Amphenol pro connector and load compensated and RF filtered input to ensure low distortion signal transfer.
The i-DI’s full transformer isolation eliminates ground loop hum and power supply noise from chargers PSUs and wall warts, and its ultra Low (<10Ω) output impedance balanced output stage ensures no signal loss when driving long cable runs.
The i-DI is housed in an all-white, heavy-duty all-steel chassis, and is fully manufactured in Australia.
