SPL has launched the Madison 16+16 Channel Studio I/O System and Crimson USB Audio Interface/Controller.
For studio use, SPL’s Crimson combines a USB interface, high-quality preamps and monitor control, for audio recording, playback, conversion, control and monitoring with a single device. The 24-bit/192kHz-capable unit supports 30 I/O channels (10 recording and 20 playback); ±18V operational voltage (for professional levels up to +24dB); and two discrete class-A, ±30V high-voltage mic preamps.
In addition, there are two Hi-Z instrument preamps; two separate headphone amps (individually controllable); dual stereo speaker set connections (and control); monitor signal mix function (from playback and recording paths); Midi input and output; and USB 2.0, SPDIF input and output.
The Madison 16+16 Channel Studio I/O System, also offers conversion, clocking and Madi processing, in a 1U-high rack unit offering 16 input and 16 output channels.
The unit is designed to allow integration of analogue equipment into larger multichannel infrastructures. It can be used in conjunction with Madi-equipped digital consoles, audio routers, or PC Madi cards in any professional audio routing infrastructure. Its Madi port offers near zero latency digital transmission of up to 64 inputs and outputs with galvanic insulation (via four units connected on a single Madi port).
Other features include: 16 AD/DA convertors with 18V analogue section (36V audio rail for +24dBu professional level); 44.1kHz to 192kHz operation (with ±10% varispeed); SPL clock-shop (for jitter-free operation); four directly-selectable reference levels (15/18/22/24); set-up and operation from the front panel; ‘distance-readable’ meters (level status of any I/O channel); fan-less, silent lower-power design (30W max); redundant power supply (optional); and four D-Sub analogue eight-channel multicores.
