Drawmer’s MC2.1 is an active three-way monitor controller that is designed to be ‘as electronically transparent as possible’. It uses an ultra-low-noise specification and built-in low-hum switchable linear power supply, and is housed in a rugged steel chassis with brushed black aluminium cover.
The unit offers four inputs, and supports up to three pairs of stereo speakers, plus a mono subwoofer, which may be all active in any combination for A/B mix and monitor comparison. Level trims for each individual channel compensate for output discrepancies in the connected speakers, ensuring level matching between connected speaker pairs. Two headphone amplifiers and a talkback microphone, all with individual level controls, are also provided. The two main inputs, and all of the balanced stereo outputs, use high-grade Neutrik XLR connectors. Input 2 is a Combi XLR/jack, while the Aux input is via LR phono connectors or a stereo 3.5mm jack, allowing connection of submixers, laptops, record decks and other audio sources.
The front panel centres on the output volume control, which operation. Switches individually activate and deactivate the connected audio sources and output speaker pairs in any combination, along with Left/Right Cut controls and an overall Mute switch. Phase Reverse and Mono summing buttons are also included for mix-checking. Finally, the unit has timed relay protection on all speaker outputs to ensures that your speaker cones are safe during power up and power down.
