Previewed at the Namm show in January, FBT is to launch the Mitus Active Series of of line array loudspeakers and ProMaxX, the latest generation of its active  FBTMaxX polypropylene cabinet speakers, at Plasa.

Mitus is the company’s smallest line array to date, which has been engineered to meet applications ranging from pole-mount setups to full-scale line array solutions.

The Mitus 206 LA compact line array system boasts an extended performance in the mid and high-frequencies, with the use of various proprietary technologies including class-D amplifiers and DSP. Intended for small- to medium-sized applications requiring multiple cabinet line arrays or single stand alone loudspeakers, the Mitus 206 LA is configured using the flyable Mitus 212 FSA (2 x 12-inch) active subwoofer or ground-stacked on the Mitus 121 SA (1 x 21-inch) or on the Mitus 118 SA (1 x 18-inch) active subwoofers.

A gas-injected polypropylene enclosure houses two 6.5-inch woofers with neodymium magnets, a 1.4-inch exit HF compression driver on a waveguide that produces a vertical line source directivity with 100° horizontal dispersion. The maximum vertical dispersion of each module is 10°, dependent upon number of elements. The built-in class-D bi-amp system delivers 600W RMS to the LF and 300W RMS to the HF, and uses a lightweight switch mode power supply. The system is also provided with DSP and factory presets, which allow the system to be optimised for different applications.

The Mitus 212 FSA active subwoofer shares the same width and suspension hardware as the Mitus 206 LA, and extends the LF handling down to 45Hz. The bass-reflex design uses a dual set of high-excursion neodymium magnet 12-inch woofers with a class-D amplifier, delivering 1.2kW RMS. This is complemented by the Mitus 121 SA active subwoofer, with a 21-inch woofer that extends system response to 29Hz.

Two-way active and passive speakers are also included in the Mitus range. The Mitus 112 A has a 12-inch neodymium magnet woofer and a 1.7-inch VC HF compression driver mounted on a 80°H x 50°H rotatable CD horn, with class-D amplification, switch mode power supply and DSP. The Mitus 115 A, meanwhile, has a 15-inch neodymium magnet woofer, and the Mitus 210 MA two-way active stage monitor has two 10-inch neodymium woofers, a 1.7-inch VC HF compression driver co-axially mounted on one of the two 10-inch woofers, and a low-profile design for live or TV shows.

Maintaining some of the attributes of the FBTMaxX Series, FBT’s ProMaxX series of two-way speakers features a new cabinet design that increases low-frequency power and ‘virtually eliminates undesired resonance’. A new horn design provides improved projection, accuracy and uniform dispersion of the high/mid and high frequencies. Two ergonomically placed carrying handles are integrated into the cabinets for easier placement on speaker stands and when transporting.

DSP circuitry and FBT’s latest class-D amplification circuitry are designed to ‘raise the bar’ for lightweight powered speaker systems. The ProMaxX range is aimed at musicians, DJs, A/V contractors and audio rental companies.
