Developed ‘equally’ for professional recording studios, home studios, musicians, music lovers and media creatives of all kinds, SPL has announced the desktop-friendly and affordable Series One.
The first two Series One releases, the Phonitor One and Phonitor One d headphone amplifiers, are now shipping with further devices to follow. The SPL Phonitor One allows high-quality monitoring of analogue sources, with its Phonitor Matrix with Crossfeed control emulating mixes made on loudspeakers. The unit features an analogue volume controller, an aluminium front panel and a high-end metal housing.
The Phonitor One d features the AKM AK4490 Velvet Sound DAC chip in the digital-to-analogue converter, supporting audio signals of up to 768kHz, 32-bit resolution, and Direct Stream Digital up to DSD4 playback. A balanced stereo line output means that the Phonitor One d can be also used as a stand-alone DAC.
Phonitor One carries a recommended retail price of US$499. Phonitor One d with DAC has a recommended retail price of US$699.
