With an increasing amount of evidential material is being captured on smartphones, CCTV systems and similar devices, background and environmental noise is a common challenge to speech being clear and intelligible. In response, Cedar Audio has announced Trinity Enhance, an advanced filtering developed for the Cedar Trinity surveillance system and now available as an AAX, AU, VST2 and VST3 plug-in.
Compatible with all common audio and video playback and editing platforms, Trinity Enhance is simple to use but provides an effective audio forensic toolkit of four related processes that suppress noise and enhance speech to increase listenability and intelligibility.
Of these, Motor removes steady noises such as engine rumble, mains hum, air conditioners and fans, while Noise reduces broadband noise. Background makes background sounds appear louder relative to the foreground, and Speech enhances speech signals relative to other types of sound.
‘Trinity Enhance allows novice users to clean difficult material to a standard that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago and, although designed primarily for speech enhancement in the forensic laboratory, it can also be used to clean things such as interviews and reports intended for broadcast that were recorded in particularly noisy environments,’ says Cedar Audio MD, Gordon Reid.
Trinity Enhance is immediately available from Cedar’s authorised forensic and surveillance dealer channel and, in other territories, direct from Cedar Audio, and is authorised using the iLok and Cedar HSP dongles.
Mac users require an iLok, and PC users require a Cedar HSP dongle. Existing dongles for Cedar Studio and the Cedar Trinity surveillance system may be used.
