Cedar Audio has announced two important updates for its DNS 8D dialogue noise suppression processing, one for its firmware and the other for the hardware.

Cedar Audio DNS 8D upgrade‘The DNS algorithm has evolved significantly since it first appeared in the DNS1000, and today’s DNS models are able to remove more noise, more easily, and with fewer artefacts than ever before,’ the company says. ‘We learned a lot while developing the DNS 4 earlier this year, refining the processing yet further to retain a more natural sound when cleaning dialogue in the presence of large amounts of noise, and the DNS 8D now benefits from the same improvements.’

All DNS 8Ds from serial number 15020 onward carry the new firmware installed as standard, while owners of existing units can upgrade them using a simple update that can be performed wherever they’re installed.

The DNS 8D is also being upgraded from serial number 15020 onward to use the latest white OLED displays. These offer improved clarity and, as before, users can adjust the brightness so that units can be operated comfortably in any lighting conditions.

The revised DNS 8D is immediately available, and the price is unchanged. The firmware upgrade is free of charge.
