Audio network specialist Optocore has announced an AES3 (AES/EBU) I/O card for its X6R 16-channel converters.
The new card provides 16 AES channels, with the ability to change the inputs or outputs in groups of eight. Complementing the existing mic/line conversion cards, the AES3 offers a number of device options, providing flexibility beyond the 64 AES/EBU channels offered by its primary DD32E network device.
Devices equipped with an AES3 Card and an eight-channel analogue converter card will allow users to choose 16 AES channels (I/O switchable in groups of eight) or use the eight analogue channels combined with eight AES3 channels. The new combination would work particularly well in amplifier racks, where amps can be connected by AES, but with the option to incorporate any analogue input feeds as well. ’Enormous flexibility resides in this solution, which can be configured according to users’ needs,’ says Optocore support engineer, Christian Pötsch. ‘The user can use all 16 AES channels and no analogue I/O or a combination of both.’
The X6R-16AE offers 16-channels of AES3 I/O with Euroblock connectors, at up to 192kHz sample rate, while the X6R-8AE/8MI offers eight channel AES3 I/O, eight mic inputs, 1dB analogue step and up to 192kHz sample rate. The X6R-8AE/8LI offers eight channels of AES3 I/O and eight line inputs, Euroblock connectors up to 192kHz sample rate. And the X6R-8AE/8LO provides eight AES3 line outputs, Euroblock connectors, and operation at up to 192kHz sample rate.
Optocore has also produced AES cards for the new X6R-TP (16-channel converter with 24ID SANE network) as follows:
X6R-TP-16AE: 1 x 16-channel AES3 I/O with RJ-45 ports (TP). Channels available: 16 on the card, plus 32 AES, plus 64 over the SANE port (providing a total of 112 channels). X6R-TP-8AE/8MI: 1 x eight-channel AES3 I/O, 1 x eight-channel mic inputs with RJ-45 ports (TP). Channels available: 16 on the card, plus 32 AES, plus 64 over the SANE port (providing a total of 112 channels). X6RF-TP-8AE/8LI: eight channels of AES3 I/O, eight line inputs with RJ-45 ports (TP). Channels available: 16 on the card, plus 32 AES, plus 64 over the SANE port (providing a total of 112 channels). X6R-TP-8AE/8LO: eight-channel AES3 I/O, eight line outputs, with RJ-45 ports (TP). Channels available: 16 on the card, plus 32 AES, plus 64 over the SANE port (providing a total of 112 channels).
AES3 cards are also available for the X6R-FX (16-channel converter with 24ID SANE network to 24ID Optocore network). These include the X6R-FX-16AE: 16-channel AES3 I/O with RJ-45 ports (TP) and fibre ports (FX). Channels available: 16 on the card, plus 32 AES, plus 64 over the SANE port and 512 over the Optocore ports (a total of 592 channels). X6R-FX-8AE/8MI: eight-channel AES3 I/O, eight mic inputs with RJ-45 ports (TP) and fibre ports (FX). Channels available: 16 on the card, plus 32 AES, plus 64 over the SANE port and 512 over the Optocore ports (providing a total of 592 channels).
