Astro Spatial Audio (ASA) has announced the second generation of its Sara II Premium Rendering Engine, offering object-based 3D sound to the live entertainment and installation industries, along with room acoustics and stage tracking features.
Along with a redesigned fascia and 2.8-inch touchscreen, the Sara II hardware includes refinements such as ultra-low noise cooling, redundant onboard SSD drives, and up to 64 Madi or 128 Dante configurable network pathways, all assignable to upwards of 32 audio objects.
Browser-based access to a user-friendly GUI ensures ease of operation with simultaneous control from up to ten devices (via OSC for Midi, RS232 and GPIO). Latency is sub 5ms, while reliability of operation is ensured with solid construction and a Linux CentOS operating system.
Harnessing the power of SpatialSound Wave (SSW) technology, developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT, the Sara II Premium Rendering Engine delivers a suite of powerful features for full object-based immersive audio productions, including 3D playback, dynamic electronic room acoustics and stage tracking.
‘Sara II sits at the heart of the Astro Spatial Audio solution, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to show it off at ISE 2017,’ says ASA Director, Bjorn Van Munster. ‘The show will allow everyone the opportunity to hear true object-based immersive audio, powered by truly cutting edge hardware.’
