UK-based radio microphone and communications systems specialist Audio Wireless has released its AWTC-1 Timecode Link.
A compact transceiver that can be switched quickly and easily between transmit and receive modes, the AWTC-1 is designed for worldwide use in licence-free bands and is programmable across a 500MHz range, between 430MHz and 930MHz.
‘Sound recordists and production crews using our radio microphone equipment have been asking us to develop a time code transceiver for some time, and we have responded with the AWTC-1,’ says Aldo Hakligil, Audio Wireless MD. ‘It’s a sophisticated wireless link, offering intelligent power control and channel selection to produce a class-leading operating range. Its sophistication is borne out by the software design, developed over many months, that employs cognitive radio techniques to achieve interference-avoiding dynamic frequency diversity, thereby ensuring optimum performance for multi-camera shoots under challenging RF conditions.’
Programmable via its front-panel LCD, the AWTC-1 also offers top-panel multi-colour LED indicators for transmit/receive status, battery condition and active timecode data. Theunit is powered by a single AA cell, and features the same battery compartment design – with a captive, twist-action cover – that is common across Audio Wireless transmitters, diversity receivers, and in-ear monitoring receivers.
