Merging Technologies has completed the installation of a high-resolution DXD-capable Pyramix system at Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts – the National Grand Theatre.
While the FOH sound is mixed with Studer Vista 6 consoles, the main recording studio uses an SSL Duality console. The Theatre’s management had also earlier installed a Pyramix system in 2006 to allow the audio from performances to be recorded and archived.
An architectural highlight of Beijing’s old town, ‘The Egg’ is distinguished by it ellipsoid titanium and glass shell. Inside, the National Grand Theatre comprises three performance spaces – the Opera hall, the Theatre hall and the Music hall. The new high-resolution Pyramix workstation accompanies the SSL Dualoty console and Genelec 8250 monitoring system in the control room beneath the Music hall, and can record at sample rates of up to 384kHz if required.
‘The Chinese government is committed to the highest standards of quality in their national arts institutions, and the additional purchase of a further high-resolution Pyramix DAW for the National Grand Theatre is a testament to this policy,’ says Dominique Brulhart, who oversaw the installation for Merging Technologies.
