Serving the Minneapolis hip-hop scene, producer and composer Andrew Thomas is the man behind recent tracks from MN Fats, including collaborations with Keisha White and Snoop Dogg. He has also refitted his studio with help from Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro).
‘What I want to do with this studio is create a place where people can come together and make connections,’ he says. ‘We can help the music happen here.'
GC Pro is the Guitar Center division for professional users, and provided Thomas with an SSL AWS 900+ SE console, along with an upgrade to his Avid Pro Tools HD 3 rig from PCI to a PCIe, Avid 192 I/O and a custom patchbay configured by Joe Ingle.
‘It was great being able to come up with exactly what Andy wanted in the patchbay which was one of his main concerns with the upgrade,’ says Ingle, a Sales Associate at the Minneapolis store. ‘The new patchbays all terminate to DB25 connectors, which combined with all custom Mogami snakes, make for a simple, clean and effective solution. Andy has a great studio and he does really good work. Minneapolis has always had a great music scene, and it’s constantly getting better. I love being a part of it.’
MN Fats’ project will be will be mixed on the SSL AWS 900+ SE and released through Sony Music and distributed through Sony’s RED distribution arm.
