The second album since the Mercury Prize-winning The Seldom Seen Kid, Elbow’s The Take Off and Landing of Everything was written and recorded at Blueprint Studios and Peter Gabriel’s Real World. When it came to mixing, the band returned to their own facility to use the PMC IB2S three-way monitors and the new active twotwo.6 close-fields which were recently installed there.
The continuity of loudspeaker voicing though to the mastering stage was further ensured at the mastering stage. Using London’s Metropolis Mastering, the album was mastered by Tim Young using PMC BB5 XBD-A large-scale monitors.
‘Fans appreciate how much elbow pride themselves in the quality of their work from start to finish, and this is borne out by the use of our loudspeakers,’ says Paul O’Farrell Stevens of PMC. ‘If you really want to hear it as they intended, PMC is the obvious choice.’
