The European nasketball Eurocup final recently saw Russia’s Unics Kazan up against Spain’s Valencia Basket, with the content being played over two legs that Valencia Basket won.
The first leg was played at the 9,000-capacity Fuente San Luis in Valencia – which was sold out – where the sound was delivered by a Lynx Pro Audio LX-V8 line array system.
The loudspeaker cluster was flown under the centre marker, with six LX-V8 arrays mounted on an aluminium frame. All Lynx LX-V8 boxes were controlled via Ethernet, allowing the system’s OCS control software to determine the settings for each zone, providing both power and intelligibility for the event. In total 20 LX-V8 units were used in the pavilion for the sound reinforcement.
‘This is possibly the best sound we’ve done in Fuente San Luis for this type of event – not only for the general sound of the system, but for real–time management as well as the incredible coverage achieved for such a small amount of cabinets,’ says Guillermo Tébar, sound engineer for Sonovideo, the company that carried out the installation. ‘We were able to control levels independently per box, allowing us to adjust them to cover corresponding seating, optimally covering all areas of the Pavilion, with a crisp and uniform sound.’
The LX -V8 enclosure is a class-D switch mode powered V-Configuration line array, using two 8-inch neodymium transducers with nomex cones and two 1-inch HF neodymium magnet drivers with titanium diaphragm and an individual waveguide. It is DSP (FIR technology) controlled with 1.5kW amplification, offering 134dB SPL.
