An overhaul of the audio equipment at the Black Box, located in Nice in the South of France, has seen an Allen & Heath dLive S Class digital mixing system installed at FOH.
The new dLive system comprises a S7000 Surface and a DM32 MixRack, which will serve an eclectic programme of live performance, including dance and theatrical productions, and a roster of national and international artists from any genre ranging from rock to gospel.
‘When we decided to upgrade our console, I was introduced to dLive by an engineer called Serge from Pan Pot PA company, which owns one,’ says Stage Manager, Cedric Turco. I immediately got hooked on the layout of the surface, which is crystal clear, and the exceptional processing rate, which makes the mixer extremely powerful. dLive offers enormous resources compared to other offerings on the market, plus the sound quality is exceptional, and I find the preamps really effective.
‘dLive offers a very neutral, smooth sound without the need for any treatment or FX. However, if you want something out of the ordinary, you can use any of the amazing FX emulations, such as a Vintage compressor,’ he adds. ‘The modularity of the system will also allow us to evolve our configuration with additional I/O racks, which can be moved to various places in the venue as needed. I love the firmware updates, which are frequent and really useful, such as the recently released DYN8 processors, which now I cannot live without.’
