Staged at the Trud Stadium in the Russian city of Nizhniy-Novgorod, the Nashvill Rock Festival attracted more than 5000 people to the likes of legendary Russian bands Mumiy Troll, Splean, Animal Jazz, Knyazz and Noize MC, performing through a Martin Audio MLA PA system.
The Festival sound and lighting systems were supplied by local provider, Citysound. The PA design was based around main stage hangs featuring 11 MLA elements plus an MLD Downfill on each side, with 12 MLX subwoofers in front of the stage and four W8LC used as front fill. The stage monitoring system consisted of 16 LE1500 monitors and four W8LM Mini Line Array elements plus a pair of WS218X subs per side as side fill.
The sound balance and levels achieved were noted by the performing bands’ production teams. ‘Martin Audio MLA sounded really powerful and cool,’ says Yuri Smirnov, FOH engineer for Animal Jazz.
‘What I really like about this festival is that it is a challenging one – we had several quite demanding acts on the main stage coupled with constantly changing weather conditions, which included wind gusts and rain,’ says Citysound, Technical Director, Igor Sobolev. ‘But with Martin Audio there was never a problem – MLA easily passed all these tests once again, delivering exceptional sound performance.’
‘The audience left the stadium completely satisfied,’ reports Citysound Stage Manager, Ilya Trifonov, ‘It was an excellent festival with impeccable sound and lighting. All we heard was extremely positive feedback from the artists and then saw the smiles on the audience’s faces – and that was the most important reward for us.’
