Dave Ward, founder of Gateway Studio and the Gateway School, has announced the re-opening of Gateway Professional Development Training. ‘We are re-starting the industry training courses that we originally planned with the APRS (Association of Professional Recording Services),’ Ward confirms.
‘They are designed for professionals in the creative industries who would like a better understanding of the various disciplines outside their own specialist experience or expertise. They may be managers or administrators, as well as operators. Plans are also underway for specialist courses for teachers.’
Designed to give a greater understanding of recording and music production, the first course will be held at Mark Knopfler's British Grove Studios in West London, running over two days – 12 May and 13 May 2018. It will be led by Ward and Dave Harries alongside British Grove Manager, David Stewart.
Similar courses beginning in 2018 will include an essential guide to the jargon and technology within the Film and TV world, as well as courses on Audio Post Production.
‘As our technologies converge, we all need to know a bit about what each other does; we don't actually need to be able to do it,’ Ward says. ‘We need information to be more effective, to communicate and indeed to survive. Change comes upon us so quickly, the more we know the better equipped we will be.’
Gateway was the first School of Recording in Europe, established in 1980 and an an Education Friend of James (Joint Audio Media Education Support).
