Unity Audio has supplied its Boulder MkIII active monitors and a pair of Boulder Active Bass Extenders (Babes) to Australia in a recently completed studio upgrade by producer Ben Stanford – better known as Dub FX.
Stanford was sufficiently impressed by the performance of the MkIII design that he made the new monitor part of his studio upgrade: ‘Over the past 15 years as a producer, I’ve had the pleasure of working with and getting to know seven different pairs of studio monitors,’ he explains. ‘This year, I finally found the system I will use till I’m old and grey. The Unity Boulders with the Babes. are absolutely next level.’
Stanford is a producer and worldwide street performer based in Australia, known for creating unique live music using live looping and effects pedals combined with his voice. He creates intricate hip-hop, reggae, and drum and bass rhythms, has several albums and is a popular international live performer.
Stanford chose the new Boulder MkIII because he was looking for something that would enable him to work faster and more accurately: ‘Unlike with my previous monitors, I’ve found that these speakers have made my job as a producer much easier in terms of speed and performance,’ he says.
