Finnish singer-songwriter Nelli Matula has embarked on her national summer tour, accompanied by a compact Allen & Heath dLive Wings system for both FOH and monitors. Supplied by Hög Light & Sound, the tour set-up comprises a dLive C1500 for FOH and a custom dual-touchscreen controller for monitors, both running in multi-surface mode from a single DM48 MixRack.
The system also includes a DX168 expander for remote I/O, Dante card and a Waves3 card for multitrack recording and virtual soundcheck.
‘I’m a long-time Allen & Heath user, and I’ve been using dLive ever since it was launched,’ says tour manager and FOH engineer, Temi Kinnunun. ‘The best feature of dLive is the user interface and the preamp sound.’
‘I spent a few days familiarising myself with the dLive family and now I don’t want to give it up,’ monitor engineer Kari Mäkimartti says. ‘I use the desk all the time and in different configurations – the sound is great and the selection of tools is extensive.’
Running the touchscreen system with Director software for monitors, Mäkimartti comments: ‘I decided to adopt the Director software because it enables integration of all other software on one touchscreen computer at the same time. This makes the system compact and really fast to set up.
‘I can’t think of a situation I can’t handle with dLive. The band, the artist and the dancers are all extremely happy with the sound quality. The desk simply produces an amazing sound and I use the Dyn8 multi-band dynamics processing a lot when I’m mixing.’
The tour covers 16 dates across Finland, and takes in some of the country’s largest festivals including Provinssirock and Ruisrock.
