Madrid’s recent Mad Cool festival saw a number of its headlining acts mixing with SSL Live consoles on its Mad Stage, including, Queens of the Stone Age, Portugal The Man and Underworld. The event’s Stage 2 – which hosted Depeche Mode, Kasabian Jack White and Tame Impala among others – also called on an SSL L500 Plus as its main FOH console.
The three-day event drew in 80,000 music fans to watch a line-up that included some of the biggest names currently touring. Event Company PRG provided the technical services for all three stages, and chose an L500 Plus for FOH on Stage 2, connected via SSL’s Blacklight II Madi concentrator technology to two ML32.32 stageboxes.
The L500 Plus features a versatile user interface that is optimised for festival use – any channel or path can be assigned anywhere on the three independent fader tiles that are navigated in a convenient layer and bank system. This means that the console can be set up quickly and simply to suit users’ preferences. New paths and channels can be added to the configuration at any time without losing audio, so new and unexpected inputs and outputs can be accommodated during an event.
