Raising its commitment to the UK marketplace and acknowledging growing demand for its IP-based video, audio, control and networking technologies, German broadcast manufacturer Lawo has opened a subsidiary in the UK and strengthened its Sales & Support Team with new appointments.
Pre-Sales & Systems Engineer Kadhim Boyd, Solution Architect James Walker and Sales Managers Olivier Hough and Devin Workman will bring a new quality of customer relationship to the UK. Their expertise and many years of commercial and practical sales engineering and support experience, as well as the management and delivery of complex, solution orientated projects make every team member an ideal choice for their respective positions with Lawo.
‘Lawo is investing heavily in the UK as part of a drive to keep up with increasing activity and opportunity in the area of IP processing and distribution, and management of IP-based media workflows,’ explains Craig Newbury, Director of Sales and Operations, UK & Ireland, who is heading the new team.
With his roots in IT development engineering, Engineer Kadhim Boyd counts extensive experience as Senior Engineer, Technical Sales Manager and Principal Systems Engineer at Snell, including responsibility for management of and training for larger projects involving control and monitoring systems across the world.
Before taking up his new role of Solution Architect at Lawo, James Walker worked as Head of System Architecture and Delivery – Live Production and Infrastructure at Grass Valley, and served in roles including Chief Architect of Live Production and Infrastructure, Engineering Group Manager, Modular Engineering Manager and Principal Design Engineer at Snell. The background to his professional career includes gaining a B.Eng Hons in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Liverpool John Moores University.
Prior to his move to Lawo, Olivier Hough served as UK & Ireland Strategic Sales Manager for Vitec Production Solutions. Having begun his career as an editor, animator and graphic designer, he previously held commercial positions with Miranda Technologies and Pixel Power with geographical responsibilities including the UK, Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Israel and APAC. Hough holds a BSc (Hons) in Electronic Imaging and Media Communications from the University of Bradford.
Devin Workman counts 20 years in professional audio and arrives at Lawo from HHB Communications/Scrub where he specialised in the supply and support of Avid Pro Tools and S6 consoles, Dolby Atmos systems, and Audio-over-IP solutions for film and TV audio postproduction. His previous appointments include Application Specialist at Avid Technology and EMEA Product Specialist at Euphonix. As an audio engineer, he counts London’s Whitfield Street Studios, the Banff Centre and Fred Smith Studios alongside his work as a freelancer. His technical education includes a BMus, Music from McGill University.
