Having concluded a sold-out US Winter tour in support of their King Animal album in 2013, Soundgarden performed for a recording at the Wiltern in Los Angeles – part of a series of immersive events and products titled Soundgarden: Live from the Artists Den. The Wiltern performance mixed new songs with radio hits and rarities to become the most requested Soundgarden show for an official release.
Six years after the original original recording, Artists Den – known for presenting intimate concerts in non-traditional settings – in partnership with UMe, has announced release a selection of products for a limited edition Super Deluxe box. In advance of the album, there will be a screening of the ‘reimagined experience’ of the 2013 concert, in LA and New York, as well as a screening in Seattle.
The stops in New York and Los Angeles will each showcase 12 HD camera angles for an immersive multi-screen viewing experience, set to a live remix of the original 48-channel recording delivered using L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound from L-Acoustics. The 360˚ real time mix synced to on-screen footage and further complemented by a light show promises a unique experience, for one night only in each city. The Seattle screening will take place at The Showbox, the site the band reunited for the first time in 2010 under the anagram Nudedragons.
‘This live show was really special, and I know how much fun Chris had that night. The idea of giving fans the opportunity to experience it in its entirety is something we are proud to share with them,’ said Vicky Cornell on behalf of the Chris Cornell Estate.
Speaking about Live from the Artists Den, Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil said: ‘We were very proud and excited to document the performance of our new material from King Animal, and to celebrate with each other and our fans.’
