Following Ravenna product announcements and interest in Dolby’s audio meta data transport demo using Ravenna’s AM824/SMPTE ST 2110-31 format at the IBC show in Amsterdam, Micromedia AG has joined the Ravenna fold.
Based near Lucerne, Switzerland, Micromedia AG is a consulting, technology and engineering provider for radio and TV broadcasters. Founded in 1992, Micromedia first developed professional broadcast software under the Digimedia brand. In 2012, the company started to develop hardware for Audio over IP (AoIP) with Livewire+, followed by Dante and now Ravenna support. Currently their AoIP hardware portfolio consists of a variety of studio-grade stereo (2-channel) interfaces with AES67 support. The Micromedia Digimedia AES67 audio interfaces are sold worldwide through Micromedias own webshop and selected dealers and system integrators.
‘For our HPA [headphone amplifier] we were looking for additional network-based connectivity for large-scale broadcasters in the TV and radio broadcast industry,’ says Micromedia CTO, George Wismer. ‘We chose Ravenna as it is widely accepted by large scale broadcasters and gives us further compatibility with the leading manufactures of professional consoles and IP-based network management tools.’
‘I have known George Wismer for many years now, and I have always been impressed by his personal commitment to service and quality,’ says ALC NetworX’s Andreas Hildebrand. ‘Being able to offer Ravenna/AES67 interface options for his high-grade studio I/O modules will definitely enhance the footprint of Ravenna.’
