The first professional eSports venue in China, the Hangzhou Esports Center recently opened the doors on a starship-style arena that reflects the futuristic sci-fi feel of the gaming. A large space with a long reverberation time, it was a challenge to find an audio system able to meet the demands of competitions however...
Called on to devise a solution, Zhejiang Dafeng Industry Co and A/V distributor and provider EZPro, designed and delivered a comprehensive PA system using a range of components from EAW. The venue’s PA system comprises 36 EAW KF810P line array elements, 12 SB818P|F single 18-inch subwoofers, six SB180zP compact high-output subwoofers, and fill loudspeakers from EAW catalogue. The system was designed using Ease4.4 and EAW Resolution sound field simulation software.
The 36 KF810P boxes are grouped in six groups of six to achieve even coverage throughout the centre, while the subwoofers are hung above each hang to extend the low-frequency performance. All arrays are centrally hung above the four-side LED funnel-shaped screens. Additionally, six SB180zP subs on the ground provide further low-frequency reinforcement.
The EAW system received a good welcome at the opening game, Naraka: Bladepoint Martial Arts Challenge. ‘EAW’s KF810P worked great for our large events, providing excellent, uniform coverage and accurate control,’ says system designer Li Zule, from Zhejiang Dafeng Industry Co.
The Hangzhou Esports Center will host the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou Esports Competitions, set to take place in September 2023.
