Standing more than 40 storeys above Bangkok, the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok offers a bar and gardens, as well as live DJs. With an indoor/outdoor rooftop bar, guests are able to enjoy intimate conversations and breathtaking views in the same space. With a high level of ambient noise from the city below, the bar recently upgraded its audio, visual and control systems.
Renkus-Heinz sound systems were chosen for the location by local A/V integration firm, Vichai Trading, and A/V consultant, Atkrist. ‘In the early stages of design for Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, it was important that the A/V equipment blended well with the elegant architecture while also meeting the hotel’s audio requirements,’ says Mr Wansamkan, A/V consultant at Atkrist Co. ‘Renkus-Heinz provided a weatherised, aesthetic and high-fidelity solution for the rooftop.’
In order to meet the design and A/V requirements of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok’s rooftop area, Bar.Yard, it is equipped with eight TX81Compact Two-Way Complex Conic loudspeakers, eight TX62 Two-Way Complex Conic loudspeakers and two TX112S 12-inch subwoofers from Renkus-Heinz.
‘For Bar.Yard, we needed a sound system that was acoustically strong but also partial to aesthetic appearance. The Renkus-Heinz T Series loudspeakers were the ideal fit for the rooftop as they didn’t sacrifice power for size or appearance,’ says Thitikorn Sopchokchai, Assistant MD at Vichai Trading. ‘The loudspeakers blend flawlessly with our gardens and create a sound barrier throughout Bar.Yard, reducing the music pollution to the outside while blocking the noise from the streets below.’
The weatherised versions of the T Series loudspeakers were necessary for this location, as they are protected from the rain, sun and insects that assault the location.
‘The combination of sheer power and the low-impact design made the T Series the perfect addition to Bar.Yard,’ adds Renkus-Heinz Director of Sales & Business Development, Karan Kathuria. ‘With this install, Renkus-Heinz gives a new life to the top of the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, transforming an already beautiful rooftop into the most desirable bar in the city.’
