Audiomovers has added Web Transmitter to its ListenTo software suite, allowing users to stream, listen to and record high-resolution multichannel audio remotely and in real time.
Web Transmitter is a simplified, web-based version of the ListenTo app, which launches directly from a browser, and is intended for use by songwriters working on new songs, record label A&R staff and managers looking to share unreleased tracks, beatmakers sharing ideas with collaborators, and mix and mastering engineers who need client feedback, and educators conducting classes remotely.
With Web Transmitter, ListenTo subscribers can share lossless audio in real time directly from a web browser with anyone around the world. Web Transmitter can deliver stereo or mono uncompressed, lossless audio at resolutions up to 96kHz, 32-bit PCM, with additional support for high-quality, reduced data rate streaming audio at 128-256kbps with the Opus codec or 96-320kbps AAC.
Any audio input or outputs on a computer, such as built-in microphones or USB audio interfaces, can be routed to feed audio to Web Transmitter, or users can drag-and-drop (and loop) audio files supported by the Chrome or Firefox web browsers (mp3, WAV, FLAC, ogg, CAF, mp4, ADTS and WebM) for instant playback with no need for access to a DAW. Routing from a DAW or routing multiple audio sources at once is possible using Audiomovers’ audio patchbay software for Mac, Omnibus. Streaming latency can be adjusted from 0.1s to 1s in 0.1s steps to prevent dropouts.
With Web Transmitter, users can invite collaborators directly from the Transmitter without the need to copy-and-paste the sharing link – collaborators can be emailed directly from Web Transmitter. Anyone with the link can listen in natively via a web browser, from the ListenTo Receiver DAW plug-in, or from Audiomovers ListenTo Player mobile apps for iOS and Android, without the need to pay or log in. Session and content security is enhanced by the ability to generate random session URLs and password protect a session.
‘Web Transmitter adds capabilities that existing web audio sharing methodologies lack,’ says Audiomovers co-founder and Head of Audio Products, Igor Maxymenko. ‘Its ability to stream lossless audio that is stable and with minimal latency is unique and unmatched. As an integral part of the ListenTo software suite, Web Transmitter opens up the industry-standard, best-in-class online collaboration capabilities of ListenTo to a new audience beyond audio engineers or others using DAWs to work on audio.’
Unlike less capable options, Web Transmitter is not limited to the Chrome browser but also works in Firefox on desktop with full functionality. A subscription to ListenTo is required to use Web Transmitter to share audio – subscribers can share up to 16 channels of multichannel audio in real time at data rates up to 96kHz, 32-bits PCM. ListenTo also supports real-time streaming of immersive audio up to 7.1.4, and offers user-defined latency as low as 0.1s. The ListenTo suite of products, downloadable fromAudiomovers.com, includes a set of DAW plug-ins (VST, VST3, AAX, AU), a desktop application for Mac or PC, a phone/tablet app (purely for receiving audio) for Android and iOS, and now Web Transmitter for browsers.
