Marking its 50th anniversary in 2023, UK-based sound, sales and rental company Autograph Sound has begun a series of special events and occasions with a visit to Welsh National Opera (WNO) at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
In 1973, WNO became one of Autograph’s first clients, taking delivery of a bespoke cue light and comms system designed and built by Autograph Sound founder Andrew Bruce. In a remarkable coincidence – and almost exactly 50 years later – the Welsh National Opera recently adopted a further suite of Riedel comms supplied and commissioned by Autograph.
Andrew Bruce visited WNO to meet technical staff and present a commemorative certificate to Ian Jones, WNO’s recently retired Head of Lighting & Sound. Jones started work at WNO in 1979, and used Bruce’s original system for some years, so they had much to discuss...
