The Cultural Centre of Zrenjanin – Kulturni Centar Zrenjanina (KCZR) – is dedicated to the promotion of Serbian culture, and stages concerts, thematic forums, exhibitions, film shows, and professional gatherings in the vibrant city. Its diverse programme of events demands a high-performance audiovisual set-up for the main stage. To this end DiGiCo’s Serbian distributor AVL Projekt recently delivered, installed and commissioned a new A/V system centred on a DiGiCo S21 mixing console.
The new facilities bring significant enhancements for the performance of music and stage programmes, as well as film screenings.
The 48-channel DiGiCo S21 is equipped with a DMI card, plus two portable 16-input/8-output IO expander DiGiCo A168 Stages to handle live sound, recording, playback, and FX.
‘Additionally, the centre has a selection of dynamic and condenser instrumental microphones, as well as microphones dedicated to choir and speech reinforcement,’ says AVL Projekt Audio Engineer, Dragoslav Beljin.
Following the installation, Beljin provided a two-day in-depth training to A/V techs Bojan Stanulov, and Srdjan Devic, both part of the KCZR technical crew. ‘Since Bojan had already participated in a previous DiGiCo S21 workshop held by Dragoslav and Jaap Pronk, DiGiCo International Sales Manager, at AVL’s demo facility, the recent training served as a refresher for him. Meanwhile, Srdjan used the training to further expand his knowledge of the S21 and gain more experience with the console,’ explains AVL Projekt General Manager, Jovica Macos.
He further commends Beljin’s ability as a teacher, emphasising his knowledge, experience, and patience: ‘In combination with great students, the training has ignited a lot of enthusiasm within KCZR, inspiring the team to utilise S21 to its full potential.’
According to Stanulov, the S21’s interface makes learning how to use the console particularly striaghtforward: ‘All it takes is a little bit of goodwill, and you can quickly work on the S21 on your own,’ he says. ‘It’s unlike any other popular digital mixing console I’ve worked with before. And the multifunctionality of S21 is fantastic – we’ve already used it for signal distribution during recording with Cubase. It has significantly simplified our workflow in the best possible way.’
‘This budget-friendly digital audio console is a dream come true for many publicly-owned and multifunctional cultural centres,’ Macos concludes. ‘The user gains access to full functionality that is typically found only on much larger mixing consoles – and at a great price point.’
