Lined up for its unveiling at January’s International CES in Las Vegas, the first automotive-ready global multi-standard radio platform for DRM broadcast has been announced.
A joint venture between the Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium and NXP Semiconductors, the venture is ‘aimed at bringing digital radio to millions of car users in India and Russia and potentially other markets’.
The announcement follows successful DRM+ trials in the UK, Sri Lanka and India, and the subsequent launch of the DRM Indian platform. Initial DRM 30 transmission were also made to Southern Africa in October.
