Innovason has appointed ImLight LLC as its new distributor in Russia.
Headquartered in Kirov with offices in Moscow, Imlight is one of Russia’s premier manufacturers and distributors of professional sound, lighting and staging equipment. In addition, the company has a large systems contracting division and a major rental division that handles some of the biggest tours and events throughout Russia.
Imlight begun its relationship with Innovason at a number of concerts using the Eclipse GT console –more sre planned. Some of the biggest include a tour with one of Russia’s biggest (and most controversial) singer/songwriter pop stars, Philipp Kirkorov. Imlight’s rental department handled the sound requirements for the part of the tour that went through its region. According to Imlight’s Pavel Zausov, Kirkorov’s engineer was ‘delighted with the performance of the Eclipse GT, despite initial reservations as he was more used to working on analogue consoles’. In fact, he was so pleased with it that he said he would put it on his riders from now on.
‘It was the same thing for Thomas Anders’ engineer,’ Zausov says.
Thomas Anders is a German artist who was the lead singer of Germany’s popular pop-duo, Modern Talking. ‘During our preliminary negotiations with the sound engineer he had requested to use an analogue console from a different manufacturer. Unfortunately, just before the sound check we discovered a few technical problems with the console, so we immediately swapped it out for an Eclipse GT. The engineer was initially resistant to going from an analogue to a digital console, but once we’d spent just a few minutes showing him around the Eclipse, he was like a child with a new toy! He picked it up very quickly, and commented on how intuitive and easy to use it was. He was also extremely impressed by the sound quality, so it was a positive experience all round.’
Imlight has been busy with their Eclipse GT since they took delivery at the end of last year. Other events include a concert of Russian Orthodox music given by the Orthodox Children’s Choir of the Arkhangelsk Diocese, which travelled to Moscow to perform in Red Square in front of a crowd of thousands, as well as a number of concerts with other well known Russian performers.
‘In every case, the engineers have been most impressed with the simplicity of operation of the Eclipse, even if they weren’t already familiar with the console,’ Zausov says. ‘For some of the engineers, this was the first time they had worked with a digital console at all, and yet they were still up and running in no time once we’d given them a quick overview.
‘I am confident that we can make Innovason a popular brand in Russia.’
