Tieline has entered a technology partnership with Wheatstone to bring the Wheatnet IP environment to its IP audio codecs. The partnership will allow Tieline’s Genie IP distribution codecs to broadcast high-quality IP audio between remotely located Wheatnet IP studios over a range of managed or unmanaged IP networks like the internet.
‘The synergies between our two companies and our complementary IP audio technologies will deliver enhanced IP audio distribution solutions to customers of both companies,’ says Charlie Gawley, Tieline VP of Sales for Asia-Pacific & EMEA.
Genie is an advanced STL-grade IP audio codec which can now distribute four channels of Wheatnet IP audio via Tieline’s Wheatnet IP audio card. The card provides a LAN interface for connecting Genie directly to a Wheatnet IP network to allow it to distribute audio to another studio over external IP networks. At the same time, all audio can be preserved in the Wheatnet IP environment.
‘Since the launch of WheatNet-IP, we’ve taken advantage of our standards-based network infrastructure to connect with other vendors’ audio equipment,’ says Wheatstone Director of Sales, Jay Tyler. ‘For example, our software drivers already allow third party PC automation and audio software to access WheatNet-IP directly. Now, with this new interface, we are excited to bring Tieline’s codec products into synergy with our Intelligent Network as well.’
‘The partnership is a major advantage for radio networks because all audio can be preserved in the format in which it was recorded,’ Gawley adds. ‘It effectively extends the reach of the Wheatnet IP environment beyond the studio in order to distribute high quality audio between remotely located broadcast studios.’
