Shure Distribution UK (SDUK), the distributor for has announced the end of its longstanding UK distribution contract with Taiwan company Phonic, manufacturer of compact audio mixers, amplifiers, processors and other pro audio equipment for the MI, pro audio and installation markets.
‘In January we alerted Phonic of our intent to end our 18-year distribution agreement in the UK and Ireland,’ explains Shure Distribution UK Managing Director, Peter James. ‘This was a huge decision for us, and one that we considered and deliberated over for many months, but in light of developments within the product ranges of our core brands, it was the only decision that made sense. The advanced technology in Shure’s Axient and ULX-D products, QSC Audio’s Q‑Sys Audio Network, and our recent deal to distribute DIS requires us to align our resources in areas outside Phonic’s core market and product development focus.
‘We agreed to continue to support Phonic until a new distributor was found, or until the beginning of our new financial year, whichever came sooner. Our new year is now underway, and it’s time to officially part company.’
Details of the new Phonic distributor will be posted on the company’s website when confirmed.
