Behind Fast-and-Wide.com
Fast-and-Wide is the work of long-time professional audio journalist and photographer, Tim Goodyer.
Before setting up Fast-and-Wide.com in 2010, I was Editorial Director and co-founder of Blank Canvas, the publishing house behind Pro Audio Asia and Pro Audio Middle East magazines. The company was established in 2002 with Pro Audio Asia (English language), followed by a translation into Simplified Chinese and the launch of Pro Audio Middle East in 2004, and subsequently Worship Audio Asia (now Worship AVL Asia).
Previously, I was the longest serving editor of technical professional audio magazine Studio Sound. Established as The Tape Recorder in 1959 and widely regarded as an international pro audio industry reference, Studio Sound carried influential equipment reviews and authoritative technical features written by the industry's leading commentators. On my watch it broke the story of ‘Free as a Bird’, the rediscovered Beatles song that was released after the death of John Lennon.
My publishing career began in 1985 with Music Technology (formerly Electronics & Music Maker), a UK-based hi-tech musicians' magazine riding the eighties synth boom, and exploring electronic music of all flavours, from musique concrète to dance – leading and learning with the help of equipment reviews and artist interviews. Although no longer published, MT's content serves as reference material on the music and technology of the eighties and early nineties.
I have also contributed to a number of books including Philip Newell’s Recording Studio Design, and had features and photographs published in European, US and Asian magazines covering music and technology. I have worked with UK record labels on biographies and other projects, and am a current Wikipedia contributor.
Fast-and-Wide is based in Brighton, England – where you will find the highest density of journalists and web developers in the UK. You are in good hands.
