Waves Audio has announced that it will now accept online payment via Bitcoin, the world’s best recognised digital currency.
The Waves website cart section will feature a Bitcoin logo as a payment option, alongside credit cards, PayPal and other transfer mechanisms. Bitcoin operates as software and lies outside the realm of any central government or monetary authority. In 2013, the value of one Bitcoin opened at US$13.30 (£8) in January and had hit US$1,127.45 (£687) by December.
‘Waves Audio will accept Bitcoins for all products, effective immediately,’ Gilad Keren, Waves CEO and Co-Founder, confirms. ‘In order to mitigate the current volatility of the exchange, the Bitcoin exchange rate will be calculated to the sliding 24-hour average at the time of purchase [based on the average rate from the BitCoinAverage website.'
