A comprehensive Harman Professional Solutions audio system recently took centre stage with The Gettys for a demanding, month-long series of US concerts. The 20-city tour featured Irish musicians Keith and Kristyn Getty and a large number of celebrated folk musicians playing classics.
CTS Audio has worked on the Getty tour for the past five years, and chose an audio system featuring JBL VTX V20s, VTX S28 subwoofers and VT4886 for fills on this outing. The system was powered by Crown I-Tech 12000 HD amplifiers.
Lead System Designer for CTS Audio, Jon Schwarz, reports that with the large number of acoustic instruments on stage and the demands of rich, multilayered harmonies, it was imperative to achieve clarity for both the vocals and the instrumentation.
‘The VTX S28 is a really musical subwoofer, which worked great in this instance,’ Schwarz says. ‘The VT4886 is a low-profile loudspeaker that we used to fill in areas at the front of the stage. With its size and output, it meshed perfectly with the rest of the system in terms of tonal characteristics, clarity and volume.’
Schwarz appreciates that the Crown I-Tech 12000 HD amplifiers were designed specifically for the VTX line arrays: ‘Harman Professional Solutions took the time to get the presets just right, and it shows,’ he says. ‘The synchronicity between the loudspeakers and amplifiers is on an incredibly high level.’
He adds that the range of products Harman Professional Solutions offers is what keeps him coming back to its tried-and-true brands. ‘Time and time again, we come back to Harman Professional Solutions. This was a unique tour – we had a large group of folk musicians on a single stage with a lot of vocal harmonies, and we really had to get the sound just right. Harman Professional Solutions gives us so many options to make even tough set-ups work, and the results speak for themselves.
