When Chile’s football team left the MetLife Stadium with the prestigious Copa América, the Fox Sports team celebrated its successful remote-production coverage of the 2016 tournament from East Rutherford.
Staged at venues in the US, this year’s Copa was broadcast live by Fox Sports using two recently purchased IP-based Lawo Remote Production Kits, each comprising two Lawo V__remote4 devices for video and audio signal transport and processing, two Lawo Compact Engines providing AoIP interfacing and DSP, and a Lawo Commentary Unit. The Lawo kits were in use at each venue, delivering stadium commentary back to the Fox Sports’ production area.
Having proven the viability of IP for commentary and remote production, and benefitting from the new flexible workflows implemented by Lawo, Fox Sports will now use Lawo remote production equipment leading up to the US broadcast of the world’s largest international soccer tournament – set for 2018 in Russia. For this, Fox Sports will add further Lawo Remote Kits on a rental basis.
