HHB Communications has supplied a pair of Studer OnAir 1500 radio mixers, as part of a package of studio equipment to Knowsley Community College in Liverpool, England. The radio studios are part of the college’s £32m refurbishment of the Stockbridge Lane campus.
As well as hosting KCC Live, the facilities provide an education resource for the college media department. For the past eight years, KCC Live – which specialises in music and other radio content for 10-to-24-year-olds across the Liverpool area – has broadcast on FM (99.8MHz) under an Ofcom community radio FM licence.
In addition to the Studer mixers, HHB supplied Genelec loudspeakers, beyerdynamic headphones, Mogami installation microphone cable and Audio-Technica mics, together with Yellowtec m!ka equipment stands.
Matthew Marshall, Marketing and Communications Officer at Knowsley Community College, said the Studer desks in particular are proving invaluable because of the flexibility and ease of use: ‘The whole experience has been a fantastic one for us, as it’s the first time we’ve ever had all-new equipment and a purpose-built location. In producing content, the equipment has really breathed some new life into a set of already dedicated volunteers.’
‘The Studer OnAir 1500 is a great choice for community radio stations,’ says HHB Sales Manager, Andrew Hingley. ‘The mixer’s snapshot management allows instant reconfiguration for different production and training sessions. The two studios are set up as ‘mirrored’, and the technical installation uses Studer’s ReLink I/O to simplify the audio cabling.’
