The All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) is currently following the Russian Government programme of regional TV infrastructure modernisation. Having begun in 2013, system integrator Okno-TV was involved in the system design of a local news studio production facility, which included a newsroom computer system, RCS and MAM, Central Switching Room and the Regional Channel Continuity Suite.
The basic system solution was determined by the VGTRK Russian Television Region Operation Team. Okno-TV then developed the final system design, proposing the most suitable and cost-effective software and hardware products, as well as its own services. In 2014, Okno-TV implemented the final system solution into 37 TV stations around Russia, working in cooperation with other system integrators from Russia and the CIS. In 2015, Okno-TV as chief system integrator, together with the equipment suppliers SPRO, PTSYS and Vidau, extended the implementation to an additional 23 local stations.
During the system design process, Okno-TV recommended to the Russian Television Region Operation Team that it incorporates Lawo hardware solutions into the project.
In 2014 and 2015, Lawo equipment – including the sapphire console and the Dallis Matrix with integrated different interface cards and a compact crystal audio console – were delivered to the regional stations. Lawo’s V__pro8 has also been used within the system as video and audio glue, with frame synchronisation to control the sync of all external lines and up-conversion of the external SD video signals, which are still present in local stations in Russia.
The Lawo equipment – currently 14 sapphire desks, 50 crystal consoles and 62 V__pro8 units – is now being used in more than 45 regional branches of the Russian Television & Radio Broadcasting Company, providing improved workflow flexibility and futureproof technological solutions for possible production changes in the future.
