Following incompatibilities between OS-X 10.12 (Sierra), Pro Tools and its existing HSP dongle, Cedar Audio will release Cedar Studio for iLok in Q2 2017.
‘We are very grateful to our customers who have been delaying their upgrades to Sierra for many months while we tried to find a solution to this problem,’ says Cedar Audio MD, Gordon Reid. ‘However, it became clear some time ago that it was unlikely that we would be able to continue with the HSP dongle for Pro Tools users on the Mac. We have therefore been working on Cedar Studio for iLok since 2016 and feel that it’s time to let everyone know that this will be available not too far in the future.
‘Adopting the iLok will also make it possible for us to offer additional benefits such as downloadable product and demonstration software to run on existing dongles. While there are still some details to be ironed out, we should have everything in place by the summer, and we’ll make a further announcement as soon as firm information is available.’
Cedar for Pyramix and Cedar Studio on other platforms will continue to be protected by the Cedar HSP dongle.
