Theatre audio specialist Autograph Sound has expanded its Signature Series of dedicated problem-solvers with the XDante-1 Dante Network Audio Changeover System.
Developed by a team of Autograph engineers led by Rob Tory, the XDante-1 provides a simple and efficient means of switching between dual-redundant Dante sources at the push of a single button. As with the company’s previous Signature Series devices, it comes in response to real-world demand and incorporates two switchers, each capable of switching between two 32-channel sources. These can be used independently, or combined to switch between two 64-channel sources.
In common with the other changeover devices in the range, the XDante-1 integrates with Autograph’s XUSB-2 Mac/PC Switching System as a complete control package. The unit is housed in a 1U-high 19-inch rackmount case, features dual-redundant internal power supplies as standard and, while developed for theatrical audio, is also suited to any other application where uninterrupted Dante network connectivity is vital.
It also includes another key feature found on other mission-critical Signature Series units, the Big Red Button – as Autograph’s Duncan Bell explains: ‘When and if an operator reaches the point that they have to switch Dante networks mid-show, the last thing they need is to try and do that via an on-screen menu or some hidden control. The XDante-1 includes a large, illuminated red button that can be found instantly in any lighting conditions, which will instantaneously and noiselessly switch between networks if necessary.’
