German broadcast equippment manufacturer DHD Audio has entered into a Ravenna partnership.
Established in 1996, the Leipzig-based company specialises in reliable, cost-competitive audio mixing and routing systems. As AES67-enabled devices proliferate, mixing consoles and routers are required to fully integrate into AoIP environments. Ravenna provides both the flexibility to adapt to specific project needs, and support for high channel counts and low-latency signal distribution. This enables the performance capability of traditional broadcast infrastructures to be retained, but adds the flexibility of standard IT networks on the transport layer.
‘Using Ravenna, we are able to provide an AoIP solution based on open standards,’ says DHD Audio General Manager, Joerg Deubner. ‘A mixing console, the central device in a broadcast studio, needs highly reliable audio interfaces with easy set-up and versatile compatibility options. Therefore, interoperability with other AES67 devices was DHD’s core focus when developing their own AES67 implementation for the new DHD XC2 AES67 Ravenna Interface. This opens up the complete DHD product range to all customers who favour Ravenna technology for implementing AES67.’
‘Today, AES67 is a widely accepted standard and a prerequisite in any upcoming project announcement,’ says ALC NetworX Senior Product Manager, Andreas Hildebrand. ‘In choosing Ravenna as the basis for their AES67 implementation, DHD clearly underlines the superior performance and flexibility of Ravenna technology. DHD being able to implement Ravenna on their own platform, without the need to license any third-party building blocks, is once again proof that Ravenna’s open technology approach offers many significant advantages to system manufacturers.’
