The official media organisation of Dubai, Dubai Channels Network (DCN) operates a number of print, radio and TV channels. With Lawo V__pro8 video processing toolkits already in use in its Outside Broadcast Divisio for embedding/de-embedding, frame-syncing, colour correction and other tasks, the company has now also adopted Lawo’s VSM (Virtual Studio Manager) system.
DCN recently ordered the VSM broadcast control and monitoring systems for two new OB vans, to be run on redundantly designed servers, providing sophisticated and flexible, IP-based broadcast control and integrating management of all onboard and external equipment within a single system.
VSM uses a TCP/IP backbone and offers interoperability through the use of manufacturer-independent protocols, and controls all major brands and models of video and audio routers, video and audio mixers, intercoms, under-monitor displays (UMD) and multiviewers, as well as glue equipment and other third-party devices. User panels and interfaces can be configured without limitation to meet the requirements of different workflows and applications, while the whole system is under redundant control. Settings across a complete OB van can be stored and re-called by the push of a button.
