Wolfgang Ahnert, John Storyk, Dirk Noy

The Walters-Storyk Design Group and Acoustic Design Ahnert – Acoustics & Media Consultants have signed an agreement with the goal to combine their teams, core competences and fields of business creating an international design and consulting organisation, active in all sectors of acoustical consulting and media technology engineering services.

Based in New York, Miami, Brazil, and Basel, Switzerland, Walters-Storyk Design Group (WSDG) and Acoustic Design Ahnert – Acoustics & Media Consultants (ADA-AMC), based in Berlin, Germany, share core values of scientific excellence, technological innovation, international collaboration, continued education and creative aesthetics. The merger us expected to produce ‘a powerful expert global player with a long-term vision to the future [that] will continue to focus on professional consultation and engineering activities in three primary market sectors – Media Content Creation, Production, Distribution and Broadcast Facilities; Corporate and Governmental Media Installations, Parliament Halls and Conference Centres; and Sports, Arts & Entertainment Venues.

ADA, the predecessor of ADA-AMC, was founded in 1990 by Prof Dr Wolfgang Ahnert, author of several books on room and electro acoustics and an expert in technical acoustics and software development (including Ease). Since 1975 Dr Ahnert has been involved in the overall planning of numerous theatres, concert halls and further cultural buildings, while often participating in complex projects abroad.

WSDG, co-founded by John Storyk and Beth Walters and active since1969 with Storyk’s design of Jimi Hendrix’ Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan, has provided full-service architectural design, acoustic consulting and media system engineering services specialising in the implementation and integration of technology infrastructure in the built environment. WSDG has grown into an international organisation with a staff of more than 60 consultation professionals with offices and technical representation in Basel, Switzerland led by Dirk Noy, a graduate from Full Sail University in Orlando, where he was one of Storyk’s students. The offices work closely together, contributing to the unique international style that has become WSDG’s trademark.

ADA-AMC will remain at its current Berlin office, with general management duties shared between Ahnert and Noy.
