Roland Professional A/V and JVC Professional Video continue to collaborate with the announcement of LAN-based camera remote control for several of JVC’s most popular models, directly from the Roland’s V-60HD and XS-62S HD Video Switchers.
With v2.0 firmware for the V-60HD, XS-62S and companion RCS (Remote Control Software for PC and Mac), LAN-based pan, tilt, zoom, focus and brightness parameter control, as well as the previously supported tally function, are now possible for JVC’s KY-PZ100 Robotic PTZ Network Video Production Camera (up to seven cameras), GY-HM660 and GY-HM650 ProHD Mobile News Cameras, GY-HM250 and GY-HM200 4KCam Compact Handheld Camcorders and GY-HM850 ProHD Shoulder Camcorder. The update also integrates tally functionality for the JVC Pro GY-LS300CH 4KCam Handheld Super 35mm Camcorder.
‘This collaboration between Roland and JVC’s engineering teams provides greater flexibility and represents a significant value for both companies’ customers,’ says Christian Delfino, Director of Global Strategic Product Marketing for Roland. ‘Direct camera control from the V-60HD and XS-62S RCS will eliminate the need for dedicated camera controllers for those functions used during event production. Other camera functions typically used during event set-up are easily adjusted by the handheld remotes that JVC provides with the cameras. The result is full control at significantly reduced cost, with less hardware required.’
The Roland V-60HD, which began shipping in January, offers a sophisticated feature set perfectly suited for live event production as well as broadcast, recording and streaming. The V-60HD supports SDI camera inputs plus scaled HDMI inputs for data, computer, tablet and other video sources via a variety of video connections, plus a Program and independent aux bus for confidence/presenter note monitoring, downstage monitoring or side screens. The V-60HD also offers advanced audio functionality including multi-channel embedded audio, XLR/TRS and RCA analogue inputs, and multichannel embedded audio to two SDI outputs, plus comprehensive dynamics and auto-mixing.
The Roland XS-62S HD Video Switcher, shipping since February, is optimised for installed or portable live event, recording, broadcast and streaming productions. The Roland XS-62S supports seamless six-channel switching between four SDI inputs (with de-interlacer) along with scaled HDMI and RGB plus two still images stored in internal memory. Two SDI and two HDMI outputs may be assigned to program, preview or auxiliary buses with another HDMI output dedicated to a multiview or scaled output. The XS-62S also features a full-featured 18-channel audio mixer with embedding capabilities. The 1RU XS-62S can be operated by a single user from easy-to-use front panel controls, or remotely from a Mac or PC or programmable interface.
The free Version 2.0 firmware for the V-60HD and XA-62HS HD Video Switchers will be released and available for download from the Roland Pro A/V website in Q4 2018.
