Advances to Shure’s Stem Ecosystem conference room audio system have been made through the released of v2.5 firmware, promising ‘significant improvements in clarity, more consistent speech levels, and enhanced intelligibility for a more natural and transparent communication experience’.

Shure Stem Ecosystem v2.5The Stem Ecosystem provides a customisable audio solution that is easy to set up and designed to fit the requirements of any room. ‘In recent firmware updates, we improved the installation and setup experience of Stem solutions and the reliability of products already in the field,’ says Luis Guerra, Associate Director of Global Product Management for the Stem Ecosystem, at Shure. ‘This new update provides substantial improvements in acoustic performance and audio quality.

‘We care about enabling our customers to create meeting spaces where they don’t even have to think about the audio because it just works, regardless of the environment,’ he continues. ‘We are confident that the enhanced audio performance featured in this update will have an encouraging and positive impact on our customers’ experiences in their meeting spaces.’

Stem Ecosystem v2.5 updates include improved array performance, sensitivity, and sound quality of mics in ceiling units to yield better pickup of voices and better rejection of room noise and reverberation; readjustment of the pickup pattern better matches customer selection for Narrow, Medium and Wide beams.

Wall unit playback loudspeaker levels and tone for high-quality reproduction of both speech and other programme material have been improved, resulting in increased intelligibility during calls and more pleasant use of the system. The microphone array has been tuned for better tonality and voice pickup, resulting in better onsite interaction during meetings.

Woofer and tweeter loudspeaker levels have been calibrated, as well as crossover frequency, resulting in improvements to playback sound quality. Device output levels have been balanced with the rest of the ecosystem for even coverage in rooms with multiple Stem audio components.

For table units, playback and microphone pickup have been tuned, resulting in improved double-talk performance and a better experience for meeting participants.

Additional improvements include providing enhanced double-talk performance, for better interaction between conference sites on echo canceller. System sounds, such as push-button chime level, have been reduced for a more pleasant experience.

Because Stem devices have auto-updates enabled by default, all Stem Ecosystem devices connected to a network with internet access and on default settings will update automatically overnight.
